RiverRun's Start in the shadow of Old Cap |
A cool and breezy Sunday morning faced runners as they began the 31st annual
University of Iowa River Run. The race is part of the University's River Fest activities based around the Iowa Memorial Union. Proceeds of the run go to
Uptown Bill's Small Mall, a collection of businesses owned and operated by individuals with disabilities and staffed by volunteers.
The race meanders around the Iowa River and through a portion of campus which was devasted by the historic flood of 2008. A mix of people participate including students and residents of the Iowa City area. There are also teams of people and costumes are encouraged.
