The Snow Storm of December 09

The first snow storm of the 2009 season hit Iowa City with over a foot and cancelled classes at Iowa. It was a good day to stay inside and warm as blizzard warnings covered most of the state of Iowa. A New Season Begins

Players filter into the Team Auditorium in the Jacobson Athletic Complex for the first team meeting of the 2009 Iowa Football season. Players and coaches listened in as members of the University and Athletic Department community gave insight into how each of their departments benefit them as well as the rules and regulations they must live by. Departments include University Public Safety, Resident Services, Sports Information, Ticket, Video, Training, and Equipment Services. Practice begins Friday with Media Day in the afternoon.

Practice Goes Inside

Practice 8 moved inside due to the anticipation of inclement weather. The University of Iowa is one of few schools with an indoor facility which contains a regulation football field.

Senior College

Over the summer a former coach and current friend, Dave Triplett asked if I would help him prepare for a series of classes aimed at retired individuals in the community. The class which focuses on football and the different coaching points of the game. Today was the first of four days for the class which is being taught in the Auditorium of the Jacobson Athletic Complex which houses Iowa Football.

Approximately 50 people are enrolled in the course which is sponsored by the Emeritus Faculty Association and the University of Iowa Alumni Association. "Trip," as seen in the picture, is discussing the coaching points associated with offense and in particular, the Zone Running Play which is popular with many college and professional programs around the nation.

This two hour class will take place throughout the fall and take a look at all phases of the game. Along with the Zone Running Play, Trip discussed many of the techniques it takes to play on the defenisve side of the ball.
