Senior Video

It is hard to imagine the last football game will be played this weekend in Kinnick Stadium. Many events surround the last home game, many include the seniors. This Friday at the Johnson County I-Club breakfast all seniors associated with the program will be introduced. The same goes for pre-game Saturday as the Hawkeyes take on the Michigan State Spartans for the driver's seat to the Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis. Following the game is the Senior Farewell Tailgater by invitation only for friends and relatives.

Here Joe Forgy sits in front of the camera for the yearly video shown to teammates Friday night. Each senior describes "What it Means to Be an Iowa Hawkeye" and those soundbites are edited together. The video is not only for the teammates, but also for those who attend the Iowa Football Awards Banquet, this year December 17 at the Coralville Marriott Hotel.

Senior Week

The last home week of every Iowa Football season is a sentimental one. It is the last time the senior class will play in front of their adoring fans at Kinnick Stadium and there are many events that lead up to that final day. Today the Senior class sat down in front of the camera to record a video that will be shown to the team the night before this week's Ohio State game. The video has every senior answer, "What Does It Mean to be an Iowa Hawkeye?"

This is a tradition that started in the second year for Head Coach, Kirk Ferentz. On Monday each senior takes a few minutes to answer the question, it is edited during the week and then shown at the team meeting Friday night. The video is also shown at the annual Iowa Football Awards Banquet in December. This year's highlights the 26 seniors which will also be honored Saturday before the game.

Iowa Football Banquet 2009

Saturday night at the Coralville Marriott the Iowa Football team held their annual awards banquet. A capacity crowd of close to 1,000 showed up to celebrate a 10-2 Hawkeye season that landed them in the 2010 Fed Ex Orange Bowl. The list of awards is too many to list here, but most of your favorites all walked away with some hardware.
