It is hard to win a game in which you never lead. That is what happened to the Iowa Football team in Champaign on the first Saturday of November. The Hawkeyes were constantly playing catch-up to the home town Illini, and were able to tie with a little over two minutes to play and overtime seemingly imminent. However the Illini had thoughts of their own as they moved the ball down the field in a little over 2 minutes to set up the game-winning field goal, made by Illinois' Matt Eller.
The loss moved the Hawkeyes away from a New Year's Day bowl game and toward a 5-4 record.
