Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

The start of the Engelbert Family Summer Vacation will have its share of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Starting out in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where air fares were considerably cheaper, the three plus Grandmommy loaded up the "Mommy Bus" and flew out of the Dairy State non-stop to Philadelphia. Although the flight was non-stop, it had the feel of three connections. After waiting on the warm airplane for 30 minutes due to "weather in the Philadelphia area," we waited another fifteen minutes for our turn in the take off order.

Now in the air, our Midwest Airlines pilot told us that we would be re-routed around the storm and it would add 30 minutes to the flight time. Finally, Philadelphia was in our sights. The distinguishable skyline was coming into view as well as the south-side sports complex which included Citizens Bank Park (Phillies), Lincoln Financial Field (Eagles), the Spectrum (old home to 76ers and Flyers) and Wachovia Center (new home to 76ers and Flyers).

However there was a plane on our runway and the landing gear came back up as well as the plane and we began to circle again. After another twenty minutes we were able to land, but unable to get to our gate due to machinery in the way. We felt we would never be able to de-board the plane, but we did over an hour after our expected arrival time.
